I talked to a guy wearing a Villanova hat this past weekend and asked him how he thought they would do "this afternoon" and he said " I'm sure we'll win, we're playing some bottom-feeder team". After a half-minute of trying to goad him into more CAA uber alles talk I realized he was talking about basketball. He said that he didn't think the football team was playing this week.

You know, I was at the Bristol NASCAR race back in the Spring, my wife was wearing one of my Griz sweatshirts, and I heard someone shout "Go Griz" while climbing the steps to our seats. I returned the chant and looked up and around to see who had shouted it. xrotatehx Never saw the person who had shouted it. There were freaking thousands and thousands of people. Never seen so many people in such a small place in my entire life! It was like someone had kicked an ant mound! xlolx

Bristol, Baby! I go to the spring race each year and it's great! Tons of people, from all over and the tailgating action is great! A couple of years ago they honored fans that came to the race from all 50 states plus a few from Europe xbowx The funny thing to me is, the so-called "Tri-Cities" area (Bristol, Kingsport, Johnston City) is comprised of three towns, no larger than 15K each.

Of course the other funny thing is, being near Knoxville, the local sports always leads off with womens hoops xsmhx

Couple weeks ago I was in Lawrence, KS (Home of the KU Jayhawks) walking down Mass Street on Sunday, head to toe in UNI gear. Not intentionally, just so happens that when I grab mesh shorts, a sweat shirt and ball cap the odds are in favor of each having to do with UNI.

Some dude, never saw his face, yells out of a moving car "UNI SUCKS!"

I tend to disagree with him but was suprised someone not only recognized UNI in the middle of Big 12 country, but cared enough about it to yell like that.

Just got back from a little vacation in Chincoteague VA this past week. While there I saw 3 UD football shirts (not including my group) which is 152 miles away, 1 Villanova shirt which is 183 miles away, 1 Liberty shirt which is 304 miles away, and 1 Elon shirt which is 328 miles away. I was working the Little League 2010 Senior Softball World Series championship games today (I'm an EMT) and had two surprising sightings. The championship game was Northside Suburban Little League of San Antonio, TX vs Haverstraw Little League of Haverstraw, NY. While working I saw a young man in a UTSA Road Runners football shirt roaming the ballpark and an older gentleman with a Vermont Catamounts football tee. I saw one UT hat, but nothing from Tech or A&M etc, so congrats to UTSA for being just as popular as Texas, haha. As for the Vermont football tee, considering that was over before I was born, I was impressed there is still some sentiment for the team.

**On a side note, the consolation game to decide 3rd place was between South Bend, Indiana and Puerto Rico... I saw nothing Notre Dame related**

They were GSU students touring Europe and decided to make a quick stop in Paris - My housesitter for my trip had a daughter going to GSU at the time and the daughter's roommate was there with the group!! - 5,000 miles from home and there we are!!!

Only a few years old but I'll share..

I was traveling with the SEMO football team a few years ago to Jacksonville State. We were staying at a hotel about an hour from JSU on Friday night and we were sitting in the hotel lobby doing treatments. This place also had a bar attached to it. This couple came in and they saw our shirts that said "Southeast Missouri Sports Medicine." The lady's sister had gone to SEMO.

Also, this year I read in the Jacksonville newspaper about the EIU fan who lives across the street from JSU's football coach..

I am going to try to be one of the first online when single game tickets open up so I can get 3 tickets to the Montana game. UND fans have been talking about this game since Montana agreed to a home and home...only now we get to host your team one year early (and in a conference too). UND football hasn't had this much hype and excitement since our last year in DII in 2007. Playoff eligible, Big Sky Conference, no distractions, just....FOOTBALL!!

Funny story, I met the overall winner for the T&F events and he's actually the T&F coach at Western. He told me he competed last year as well and recruited the winner of the long jump to commit to Western. I also met an older competitor in the heavy games who's son plays football for UTC. One of the other heavy games athletes was a former ASU O-lineman. There was a little ASU/UTC smack going on too.

I had a Stony Brook sighting at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, NC, about 3 weeks ago. I didn't say anything to them, figure they were probably home from vacation or something. I saw a van in Pocatello today that had stickers for ISU, Montana, Portland State, and New Hampshire. Lots of traveling for those parents.

Well unfortunately UTC cant take credit for it. It wasnt an NCAA event but for him personally it is much bigger than that. Bigger than even winnibg the NCAA title. He wasnt even our best golfer last year. Stephen jaeger won the socon and the bowling green regional, but this is huge for fox. Cant hurt in golf recruiting either. Just hope we can hold onto mark guhne.

A little tardy, but I was wearing my UC Davis shirt at Disney World in Orlando in February and a worker in line said "Go Ags". His name tag said he was a student intern from Cal Poly. Not sure I would have gotten the same treatment from a Sac State fan.

I got the University of Delaware alumni magazine, the UofD Messenger, in the mail (addressed to one of the previous residents.)

It looks a lot like NDSU's magazine except they have wedding/engagement/birth announcements (which is pretty cool.)

Like NDSU's magazine, they had an article on some researchers down in Antarctica. If the two groups run into each other down there, they definitely should play some 5 on 5 football (my money is on the Bison.)

There is an ASU sweatshirt (grey/black) on the wall of Club 37 in the Milano Building here at Camp ISAF, Kabul, Afghanistan (the NATO headquarters). There are currently at least three ASU grads stationed here at ISAF and it's kind of neat seeing it high on the wall along with all the international sporting gear. It looks like it's been up there for several years, from the days when 37 was a sports bar.

Saw a guy here in Baltimore walk by me on the way to work with a Elon hoodie on. I stopped him and said I went to college there, and he didn't give me the slightest response. It was awkward. I don't think he knows anyone that went there, more or less that it was probably a college. Pretty good chance he probably stole that hoodie or something

What looked like an extended family of about 15 walked into the dining hall at Nova on parents weekend wearing Southern Football shirts. It odd sighting for sure
