SFA 93 I think you guys will like the play of Josiah Cotton. I was hoping he would be back for one more year at Samford. Our DC left, so that might have been one factor, but was there a connection that you know of at SFA?

Sorry, I have no idea, all I know is we have our 2nd year DC Mike Mutz who came over from Tulane, and our defensive line coach is Ty Warren who seems to be a big time recruiter.
Plus he will get to play one more game in his home state of Georgia, when the Jacks travel to the newest member of the UAC the West Georgia Wolves in Carrollton.
We are set at LB with Cotton in there.

Lawson .. hope youre doing well. And good luck with move to OVC !
We picked up 2 of your guys from portal. Not sure if they got full schollies or not, since we lost so little to graduation, and also picked up 2 from Kansas St and 2 from WMU before these.
Not sure we need much help at RB, though we just lost former stud RB Cole Mueller .. he had fallen off after season ending injury in 1st game of 2022. Wasn't able to regain starting spot. So maybe Glatz will get a few more reps now.
But how about Steffen ... Spack seems to like him as a high motor guy. Did you like him much ?
Steffen, Garret 6-4 270 DL Sr. Altoona, Wis. / Altoona HS Western Illinois
Glatz, Seth 5-11 190 RB Jr. Morton, Ill. / Morton HS Western Illinois
I'm doing fine. Our new HC looks promising and seems like he has a bit more of a handle on what it takes to run a DI football program. If our basketball programs are any indication, moving to the OVC looks like it's going to work out really well for us. Hopefully football starts to follow suit in the next few years. I'm glad we were able to work out a continuation of our series against each other, at least over the next couple of years; I'm hoping to make it down to Normal for the game on 9/14 if I can.
Glatz - the#2 RB on the worst rushing offense in the FCS. Now, a lot of that was on the O-Line not opening holes (or doing much to slow down defenders), but we had a total of 524 yards on the ground last year and he was 217 yards of that across 9 games (24.11 ypg). So, really...most of what I saw him do was get the ball and run right into a wall of defenders.
Steffen - we were also at the bottom of the rankings for defenses last year. Steffen had 10 solo tackles, 27 total, 4.5 of them for loss. Out of the D-Linemen, he was the one with the highest numbers, but I don't really remember anything specific about him.
When the team is good, I spend a decent amount of time looking at individual players, tracking stats, etc. When they are what they've been the past few years though, I find it better for my mental health to not really invest much energy into the details. I still go to the games and root for them, but don't really look for who's playing well and who isn't.
