Grambling's 2nd Legends Hall of Fame Inductees!

I grew up listening to some of these names on my radio on Saturday nights... usually the radio coverage was on away games against TnState in Nashville and TxSouthern in Houston.

I was in school with Doug Williams and Sammie White...two talented and hardworking players who later returned as coaches (head and asst, respectively). Good guys too and glad for them being recognized for their contributions.

Absolutely some good ones. I trust Tank is in the Hall in the 1st Class. I pass by the Leland College site in Baker several times a year and think of Coach Rob coming from there.

Thanks and yes Tank was inducted in the first class... If you're up that way, be sure to check out the Eddie Robinson Museum. I haven't had an opportunity yet, but I plan to make a drive up to show my grandkids before the summer is over.

"I was helped as a young man when I grew up, and as you get an education, please help someone else who is less fortunate than you," he said. "I was told as a youngster good things would come to me if I'm good to people. No one has ever given me money, but the help and the fellowship that I have gained by helping other people is astronomical."

"It would be impossible to describe how much Melvin Lee meant to me over all these years," Robinson said, late in their career together. "It was his genius that helped make our Wing-T offense so effective for so long."

Just truly, truly profound statements. Thank god for our schools and their continued existence.
