South Dakota State has reached an agreement to play another regional Football Bowl Subdivision opponent, signing a deal to open the 2012 season at Kansas. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kan. "Our fans will be excited, our recruiting class will be excited and our players and coaches are excited about the opportunity to play the University of Kansas in 2012," SDSU head coach John Stiegelmeier said. "Our goal in scheduling FBS institutions is to play somewhat within the Midwest region for our fans and to play a truly quality program. The University of Kansas meets both those criteria." Since moving to the Division I Football Championship Subdivision, the Jackrabbits have played regional FBS opponents Iowa State (2008) and Minnesota (2009).
