Didn't realize that about Born, but from what I understand, he was a big player in the Texas schools bolting for the WAC. Him taking a "leave of absence for the foreseeable future" is a telling sign that Lamar may indeed be coming back. Haven't heard anything about UCA coming back. A Southland lineup of Louisiana four, HBU, Lamar, Commerce, SEMO and TSU is tolerable in my opinion, at least in the near term. Gives us nine schools, reasonable travel for most and doesn't diminish the league's profile. We know Lamar — struggling program but has been to the playoffs as recently as 2018, and have potential — SEMO was in the playoffs a couple of years ago and Tennessee State has had success in the past, and a great road trip for fans. If this is indeed the move, it buys time to assess D2 move ups and plan for the next round of shuffling. The present wave caught most off guard and left us scrambling.
