As JayJ79 says, this tragedy is a result of the country's obsession with guns.
Sad that there were likely "multiple people" who "witnessed the shooting and then fled." This is part of the problem with gun violence in our society - those who can identify a shooter are afraid to do so.
It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.
Opportunity is unattainable for most people because it is disguised as hard work!!
