    Kats addressing kicking needs

Now that All American Lance Garner is gone the kicker position is another hole that needs to be filled.

For the last two years, the Sam Houston State football team didn’t have to worry who was going to come on the field and kick the extra point after a touchdown.

There wasn’t much concern when a drive would stall deep inside an opponent’s territory and the Kats had to bring out the field goal unit. That’s because All-America kicker Lance Garner was handling the duties.

But Garner is gone now, and there is big hole that needs to be filled fast because the season opener is just around the corner.

SHSU has three guys battling for the job in fall camp — Stewart Pearcy, Curtis Parks and freshman Taylor Wilkins — and the competition is tight right now.

They say a kicker gets the least glory of any position on the team..but I think he is the most important....ie. our losses to UNA and Tenn. Martin both lost by a missed kick.:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:
Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.
