Re: Matt Szczur is Coming Back

nope, the first game Chidozie Ekweozor started at RT, Bugli at RG. Ekweozor got hurt twice during the season (before the Penn game and during the Holy Cross game.) That gives us four returners with...

Re: Matt Szczur is Coming Back

We return four players who started last year including the best returning FCS O-Lineman (Ben Ijalana.) So I think that would be a yes.

Re: Matt Szczur is Coming Back

As long as Temple doesn't have a quarterback, that should give Villanova a chance. This year we must find a way to get a pass rush on Temple though.

Re: Matt Szczur is Coming Back

Exactly.. He's a guy with little power who hits for average. Unfortunate for him, those guys are a dime a dozen in the bigs.

I agree, they'll look beyond the stats with him. What other clear cut candidate is there at this point?

Re: Matt Szczur is Coming Back

I was impressed with Zambrano.. Didn't quite have the hands of Mariani though, but he's probably a better athlete.

Re: Matt Szczur is Coming Back

I'd imagine he's staying with his word, he's likely going to undergo the bone marrow procedure during the baseball season and he's on record as saying that he prefers football to baseball.

    Matt Szczur is Coming Back

He announced at the Villanova Football Banquet last night that he is returning to Villanova for his senior season. Is it fair to say that he's the odds-on favorite for the Payton award at this...

    Re: Hofstra Transfer List

The fact that they had 150 combined tackles is BECAUSE they were already on a porous defense.. Villanova ran for 410 yards against them.. Then again, we ran for 394 against Montana.

    Re: 2010 Recruiting

Villanova just apparently got another Commitment
    Ransford Quarrie- RB 6-0 225

This would bring it up to eight commitments (including the hofstra transfer) with less than a month to go.

Villanova 2010 Commits (as of 1/13)

  16. Re: NJ POY Dillon Romain a Grizzly? Looks good.

I suspected he had an acute case of white running back syndrome.
  17. Re: Villanova: Two Votes In Final AP Poll...

Because the big east was quite underwhelming when they started football.. Miami was really the only good team until VT joined.
  18. Re: NJ POY Dillon Romain a Grizzly? Looks good.

This could be a very good get for the Griz. Not only is New Jersey a very underrated football state (seven first round picks in the 09 draft) and Don Bosco is year in and year out one of the best hs...
  19. Re: Villanova: Two Votes In Final AP Poll...

Yes that is true, but the Big East did not start sponsoring football until 1991, so they are completely independent of one another. Had Villanova brought football back during a time the Big East...

    Re: CAA Teams Feeling Better

I don't know if I'll get sick of CAA talk, especially because Villanova is the defending CAA and national champions.
  21. Re: Villanova: Two Votes In Final AP Poll...

eh.. GTown is in a better position stadium wise with RFK still sitting there unused except for DC United and concerts.

Re: USC QB Transfer to UR?

  24. Re: Oregon 6A Player of the year commits to Griz

It seems like a good get, but look at the tape.. The fact that he's throwing dump off passes seems to help his percentage.
  25. Re: Villanova: Two Votes In Final AP Poll...

I really don't think a lot of you understand the unique position Villanova is in as far as football is concerned. I'll lay it out real simply.

When Villanova dropped football in 1980, we had...
