Re: Lindenwood to join the OVC

That probably looks pretty good. Kind of hard to tell in the dark though. ;)
  2. Re: 774 College Football Programs (Football Remains Strong)

I think it's a chain reaction. Once a few schools started dropping their programs, it eventually created too many schedule holes for the other schools to keep up with. With fewer population centers...

Re: Campbell University to CAA in 2023..

At this point, the Big South is less of a conference and more of an athletics-based AirBnB. The "exit fee" is just a cleaning charge.

Re: Campbell University to CAA in 2023..

Why? Joining the conference just in time to watch a stalwart conference member leave is the biggest part of the full Big South Experience.

Re: Campbell University to CAA in 2023..

I think this is actually a better add for the CAA in that I believe Campbell's potential upside right now is much higher than was Elon's when it was added.

Re: Campbell University to CAA in 2023..

That's really surprising to me. I thought the SoCon would have had the foresight to snatch up Campbell first and I didn't think Elon would want a new conference rival in their backyard.

    Re: WAC/ASUN Alliance

Unless you're talking about creating a parallel football-specific conference a' la the Pioneer, merging the ASUN and WAC would be actually be a 23-team conference.
  8. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

I disagree with the facts of your argument but I accept the logic of it.
  9. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

I apologize for implying that FUBeAR is ignorant -- based on prior posts, you're obviously not -- and I kind of knew this response was coming after I re-read my own post. I should have done better...
  10. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

I worked in college athletics for two decades and had a front row seat for Liberty's move. Aside from general banter and some occasional history, "moving from FCS->FBS" is really my only area of...
  11. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

    Wow.

You know, over the years, I've gotten used to a certain amount of hate and ignorance when it comes to Liberty. The hate doesn't bother me anymore and I've tried to help educate the...
  12. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

I'm sorry -- I really am -- but this is just not grounded in reality.

    * Every potential student and each school is different so it's not fair to say that the only things that Troy/USA/MTSU have...
  13. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

I agree but, unfortunately, I think that "years ago" was specifically 1978 when D1 split into I-A/I-AA. By taking the cost containment option 44 years ago, the SWAC -- one of only two HBCU D1...
  14. Re: SWAC wanting to go FBS as a whole conference

Is Deion still going to be in the SWAC in 10-15 years?

    Re: QUESTION ON FBS SCHEDULING

I was referring to the logistics of FCS playing down but your point is taken.

    Re: MEAC stadiums

Aside from having the Coppin logo over Morgan State's stadium, not a bad breakdown.

It's crazy to me that NSU has that big stadium and only ever hit capacity the first day it was open. I've...

    Re: QUESTION ON FBS SCHEDULING

Incidentally, everything I just posted above ^^^ from the standpoint of negotiating FBS vs. FCS non-conference games, applies equally -- albeit in smaller proportions -- to non-conference scheduling...

    Re: QUESTION ON FBS SCHEDULING

Having been on both sides of this, I can tell you that the answer to your question is $$$. That's it. A couple things here:

    * There's no incentive for an FBS school to care more about...

Re: Bold Predictions for the 2022 FCS Season

Bold prediction: NGU takes an early lead and hangs on as Furple gags away a 4th-quarter comeback.

Re: Team Name List Changes for 2022 FCS

This couldn't possibly blow up in the Southland's face...again. Could it?

    Re: WAC/ASUN Alliance

Seriously. Their current (soccer) stadium capacity is just over 8K and they haven't come close to hitting that in three years.

    Re: WAC/ASUN Alliance

I think we'd all like to believe that but, in 2022, which really means more: decades of tradition or a billon dollars a year?

    Re: WAC/ASUN Alliance

True. While I don't see a current Big XII candidate that the Pac-12 would go for, I could easily see BYU and Houston abandoning their Big XII plans to jump to the Pac-12. But, that just means the Big...
