  1. Re: Ivy League may return to the field this fall

Crowds have been declining at Ivy games since the 1970s.

There's a reason why everyone (except Yale) was relegated to I-AA in 1981. It begins with an "a."
  2. Re: Ivy League May Not Play Out Of Conference in Fall 2021

In 2019, Dartmouth blew out all of its nonconference opponents. Coach Teevens was asked why he had scheduled a bunch of cupcakes. He protested that one of the games was against Colgate. He said...
  3. Re: Ivy League May Not Play Out Of Conference in Fall 2021

I know that they had some good teams with Don Brown, but Northeastern isn't a program that comes to my mind as a challenging opponent. But YMMV....

Harvard did play Army in 1991, losing by a...
  4. Re: Ivy League May Not Play Out Of Conference in Fall 2021

Pretty sure Worcester (Holy Cross) is closer. North Andover (Merrimack) definitely is.

That said, I do agree that it's a shame that Harvard has been ducking UNH for far too long. Although both...

    Re: Patriot Spring Football Schedule

The closest I can recall is my senior year (1992) against Penn.

We were down 7-0 at the half.

We woke up and won 36-17.

    Re: Patriot Spring Football Schedule

They won't have tons of game experience even after 2021 either.

Georgetown only has eight games scheduled for the Fall as far as I can tell. That's not good.

Re: FCS's place in Division 1 football

Football is really the discussion here. My understanding is that Rice and the others were not pulling their weight attendance-wise as compared to the other old SWC schools. Hence, they were not...

Re: FCS's place in Division 1 football

If an undefeated Ivy team loses in the first round of the playoffs, the team's standing SHOULD be tarnished in the eyes of alums.

As for the weather, UNH seems to do just fine hosting games...

    Re: Historic Stadiums

    I doubt it.

Other than maybe the days of leather helmets, I don't think I've ever seen pictures of Dartmouth wearing green jerseys anywhere but in Hanover and Yankee Stadium.

    Re: Historic Stadiums

I do not know of the exact year, and some googling proved fruitless.

The Field House was finished in 1965, which is more or less when Penn/Princeton started visiting Hanover regularly. Harvard...

    Re: Historic Stadiums

Prior to the 1970s, Dartmouth played away games most/all the time against Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Penn because the gate would just be bigger at those locales. Eventually, we got tired of being...

Yale and UConn to resume rivalry next year

Just announced an hour ago that they will play at UConn in 2021.
