FCS Realignment

I am calling it now. Colorado St. and Utah St. will move "up" to the P5 due to CU and UU being in the PAC12.

Houston, SMU, Rice, Tulsa might be the only schools that the remaining Big XII will want to associate with. Academics will still matter.

WVU might be put in position to consider the AAC (not ACC).

I'm calling it now. Everything you predicted will not happen. First, there will be no more P5. It will be P4 or P2, which means there are current P5 teams that will get left behind. Why in the world would any power conference add CSU and Utah State instead of keeping a current P5 team? Also, WVU is going to the ACC.

West Virginia isn’t nearly good enough academically for the ACC to be interested. It’s why they were left out last time around.

I agree with your other points however. I think there’s a better chance Utah State joins the WAC than the PAC-12.

Yeah, it is a bold prediction. But the part about WVU is viable. They will be asked to leave the Big XII by the remaining schools and they won't have a home. They should hope for a spot in the AAC but the next best options will be Indy or CUSA. Watch.

I tend to think that money and brand is more important these days than academics in the realignment cluster f***. The ACC might hold their nose to renew some longstanding, and profitable, rivalries like WVU v. Pitt and WVU v. Va. Tech.

The PAC12 will want both cash and academics. And CSU and USU can bring both. The PAC12 likes their nice-and-neat in-state schools and these would be good rivalries for CU and UU. Even though BYU is a better option than both, the PAC12 will never/ever/evah bring in a "religious" school.

It is too bad they can't just set up the league like English soccer and have promotions and relegations into the different leagues.

If Notre Dame said that they wanted to join the Pac-12, it would happen. ND has had long-standing rivalries with a number of Pac-12 schools already...

Assuming UT and OU to the SEC happens, my gut is that the Pac-12 gets Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

Not necessarily. If what's left of the Big XII adds on, it could consider schools like Memphis and Cincinnati, in addition to UCF and USF, making West Virginia less ridiculous of a geographic outlier.

From a purist's college football perspective, WVU to the ACC makes too much sense. The rivalries with Pitt and Tech. And you could argue that they could kinda/sorta be a replacement for Maryland in the DC market given that WVU has a decent number of alum who end up in Maryland and metro DC.
