Started tearing up the old field on Apr. 23, and work progresses rapidly. New field should be in by the end of May.

Boy it's really going to hurt when they install the new turf at UD's stadium!

Already done. But by turf I mean turf, the natural kind. :hurray:

I think you folks will like it. For one, I''m pleased with ASU's turf.

But you went from Astroturf to the new stuff, didn't you?

We've been playing on the fake grass since the early 1970s. Damn hippies try to smoke the real stuff.:D

Playing the first game on Marshall's new turf last September was the clincher. Coaches and players loved it.

As good as W&M's grass field was, it just wasn't suitable for college football. Yes, when it was sunny and clear outside you couldn't find a better patch of grass to play on in the nation. But, when it's rainy and cloudy for days at a time, it shows its true colors. The big time schools that are sticking with grass have installed the grass that sits on top of the plastic trays. The drainage on them is unreal. With field turf you make a one time investment and you are set for years to come. No matter what happens from Sunday to Friday, come Saturday afternoon you will have a perfect field to play a college football game on.

ASU's field is used for so many different activities that real grass wouldn't hold up, especially with the climate in Boone.
