Kickoff scheduled for 1pm PDT from the Inferno on the campus of Eastern Washington at Cheney as the defending national champion Eagles prepare to face the Portland State Vikings. The Eagles may resemble a MASH unit with so many key personnel injured but they have reeled off four straight wins to climb back into the playoff picture, and they still have Bo Levi Mitchell at quarterback throwing the ball and Brandon Kaufman catching them. For the Vikings, they still have Connor Kavanaugh leading the pistol offense, but the other half, Cory McCaffrey, is out for the season. True freshman Shaquille Richard will start in McCaffrey's place. This game is the football edition of the "Dam Cup", the rivalry between the Eagles and the Vikings in all intercollegiate sports. Weather should be cloudy, chance of rain and temps in the high 40's.

Great win for the Vikes (if only I was saying that about the Minn Vikings). Unfortunately, they did eliminate another BSC playoff hopeful.

Kavanaugh has now shattered the Big Sky rushing record for a QB this season. The old record was just under 700 yards and he now has over 800 yards rushing with three games still to play.

EWU joins a distinguished group of national champs one year only to miss playoffs the next. The last was James Madison in 2005.
