With Georgetown's 40-17 victory over Colgate this past weekend, the Hoyas move to 6-2 on the year and clinch their first winning season since 1999. While they have not played the toughest schedule by any means, wins over Lafayette and Colgate are impressive nevertheless.

With many teams struggling to reach seven D1 wins, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Hoyas can reach the playoffs if they are able to win two of their next three games. This will be a tall task, however, as they travel to both Holy Cross and Lehigh in two of these games.

Congratulations!

Don't forget, if they win out, they are the Patriot League champ and AQ for the playoffs....

Right you are. If that is the case, they'd win the tie-breaking scenarios over Lafayette, Lehigh, and Holy Cross.

Dislike having to face a confident Hoya team. For us they come in after Gate and Cross and just before lafayette. That said it is great to see both Bison and Hoya improve this year.

If the Hoyas win out, but no one is allowed to see it, did it really happen?

If they win out, it is only because the Patriot league is so weak not because Gtown is any good. Oops, you can't always believe everything you read on this web site. ;)

GU has a history of wearing out in the 2nd half of the season. Not so much this year. Winning does give you energy, no matter how strong or weak the schedule.

Working against "fresh legs" is a lot of road games, 7 in all and no bye week this season. HC will be their 6th road game in 7 weeks and LU will be their 7th in 9 weeks.

They are much improved up front to go with the skill that they always have. That and a new OC spells success.

Did the Hoyas get rid of the OC they imported from Hofstra? They hated him in Hempstread.

No, he is still there (2nd season)

This is good for the League, though I realize some may say it points out the problems of the league. Good to see seven competitive programs, though things are a bit painful for the PL's New York programs.

That's kind of funny, actually. Generally Georgetown has started out poorly and gotten worse. xrolleyesx.

I must admit that I was skeptical until last Saturday. Colgate (like most everyone) would typically over-power the much smaller but game linemen (both sides). Finally someone got the memo and Georgetown got much bigger up front. As Colorless Raider correctly observed, the Hoyas have had some excellent backfields on offense and LB/DB on defense. But 245 lbs. vs. 285 lbs. rarely works.

That standards are so low at Georgetown that we are issuing congratulations to the Hoyas on a fine season at the end of October?

I'm still waiting for the FiOS re-broadcast of the Georgetown /Lafayette game. And I'll beat this horse to death, week after week, until it airs. Somewhere. Anywhere.

A founding school doesn't have to invite itself.

If Verizon is paying for a producing a broadcast that they will never air, that's quite a business deal. Maybe they'll save the debut before they bring the trucks up to Easton next year.
