Ouch. The mid-tier teams of top 25 were all upset. I have a difficulty putting my ballot into order. xoopsx

Be interesting to see if #26 Chattanooga sneaks in with a 4-4 record? (GPI 17)

I would be happy if they do, but honestly, I don't think I would put them in this week. Now if they beat Furman next week, then I say they are deserving.

It is an interesting question; for this voter, 4-4 was unpersuasive, and I included a 5-3 team from a non-power conference in at #25 (though I would note that I had UTC at 26). 20-30 are pretty tough to rank; if UTC can keep winning, I think they will easily re-enter the top 25 for any voter.

Does Albany finally get in.

Loss to UMAINE....and a OT opener loss to Colgate.

Destroying all other comers...bad.

I think the second line of your post is what will keep Albany out of the top 25 Dane96. I know that the win Liberty had over Coastal probably did lose a little of its luster with their last second loss to Gardner-Webb yesterday but at the time it still was a win over a ranked team and you have a red hot Liberty team as well (4 wins in a row all by at least 20 points)

I agee, the Redbirds have beaten ranked teams two weeks in a row, and their defense is very tough against the run!

If they are ranked below USD it will be a crime(people need to remember they crushed USD at home). Do the right thing AGS voters, give the Redbirds some respect.

Honestly, if Chatty wins out they will make the playoffs, they will repeat what GSU did last season so I know it is not impossible. Other than the loss to citadel they look pretty good, and citadel is not a pushover.

Same for Cal Poly. They were ranked at 20 in the GPI going into this week and they beat UND on the road to go 4-3. Cal Poly's 3 losses are to 2 FBS schools and Montana on the road.

The clearing out of the middle of the poll, since most of us drop losers seven or eight spots, will leave room for many schools that have been sitting just outside the top-25

I dont think a jsu loss to an SEC school deserves a big drop of any at all cause you didn't drop app when they lost or UTC or Richmond so I don't think we should

It's a tough call. Two bad halves of football the whole year.

And let's not forget, Albany just put 63 up on th very same CCSU team that gave up only 13 to JMU at JMU.

Not saying Albany is better than JMU. Just saying the Danes are pretty good, sans two bad halves.

This poll is an absolute mess after yesterday. 15-25 is going to be tough to decide. Feel like W&M and Richmond have to be dropped since they're 1-3 and 0-4 against AGS Top 25. Delaware probably should be too after last week's poor showing at home against UMass and that pathetic loss at URI, but there just aren't many teams on the outside that have shown that they merit being ranked ahead of the Hens. Should be interesting to see how everyone's polls turn out...

Towson is 4-0 against AGS top 25 and their only loss is against Maryland. I have been impressed with them all year and I think this is a story line that deserves a lot more attention.

It's getting attention from people who are paying attention. Their coach should be a heavy favorite for the Eddie Robinson award.

No, but then again the pools are just a current point. After a few more weeks you will prove where you belong. That is not a shot, just truth. Lehigh has nonoption but to win out.

If Chatty gets in at 4-4 does FU get any love at 4-3?

Furman should get some votes:

Wins: @The Citadel, Presbyterian, @Western Carolina, vs. Wofford
Losses: 7 points at Coastal Carolina, 5 points vs. Samford, 30 points at GSU

I think voters could put them at anywhere between 20-30. They're outside of my top 25, but I definitely considered them. I should add that I don't have UTC in my top 25 either, but I am positive I will have them in my top 25 if they take care of the furple this weekend, and vice versa as they're that close to the top 25 for me.

chattanoogamocs

The Mocs already played their FBS money game (Nebraska), so let's subtract and compare the FCS portion of the schedule.

Chattanooga
1) JSU (top 10) and EKU (both wins) are tougher than CCU (loss) and Presbyterian
2) lost at GSU by 1 point as opposed to Furman which lost by 30

Furman
1) beat Wofford (top 5)
2) beat the Citadel (UTC didn't)

Western is a push(over). xdohx

Leaving one last loss for each team...UTC lost by 2 at ASU, Furman lost at home to Samford by 5

Of course, the great thing is, they play Saturday...that will make it much easier to decide next week. xthumbsupx

In what world is Jacksonville State a top 10 win? That team is average at best.

JMUNJ08
October 24th, 2011, 12:27 AM
I had a simple rule for my voting this week as SO many of my teams from last week lost: 4-4 = OUT

I feel there are a lot of good teams sitting at 4-4 but I mean .500 with 3 games left? Not really top 25 material to me...It had some surprises making my poll but I think some of the low level guys deserve some recognition for winning the games on their schedules (as an extra note, that doesn't mean any Pioneer's got on my ballot)

Apparently on the planet where they are ranked 10th in the Sports Network Poll and 8th in the Coaches Poll. Oh wait a minute, that's Earth.

Which begs the question, what planet are you on? Wherever it is, tell Chattownmocs we said hi.

I just blew my poll up this week and started from scratch. I know you're supposed to do that every week, but with all the losses in my 11 - 25 range, it really needed it more than ever. Newly ranked: Illinois State, Cal Poly, Central Arkansas, Harvard, EWU, Brown, Jackson State. Dropped out: William & Mary, Richmond, North Dakota, Delaware, Norfolk State, Sac State, Samford. This was a very tough week, and I am having some doubts about my poll, but I'm doing the best I can :)

Wofford will not be in the top ten this week

sorry about that

they will fall somewhere around number 13

With at the L's behind them, I don't see them falling past 10...only if the voters, after 7 weeks, decide that Montana & Towson are good (Towson actually has a case but the voters still have their heads in the sand).

They stayed there for me as there were not 8 teams behind them that really made a case to move up.

Brown Bears
Cal Poly Mustangs
Furman Paladins
Indiana State Sycamores

All 4 resumes above are better than either Jackson St or Alabama St.

Of those you noted for me:

Alabama St. - IN comfortably with further losses this week ahead of them and their only loss by 7 to an FBS.
Jackson St. - OUT - tied 27th. only loss to Alabama St. No quality otherwise.
Brown - OUT - tied 27th. played a bunch of .500 teams. Some good, but no signature win. Loss to Harvard.
Cal Poly - OUT - 26th. 3 tough losses but the W's don't scream at me either...
Furman - IN after nice win vs. top 5. Still think they are borderline at best.
Indiana St. - IN but slipping fast. Fell behind ISUr this week and only in due to blow out win of WKU and all the Ls in the top 25.
