After 5 weeks who has performed well enough to be added to the Payton Award list? Here's some suggestions -

1. Kevin Decker from UNH is currently #5 on the FCS passing efficiency rating and has rushed for 157 yards and 5 TD's.
2. Forcier from Furman has a pass efficiency rating of 234.37.
3. Lum of Lehigh has thrown for 1809 yards.
4. Rumble of Idaho State leads the FCS with 757 receiving yards and should be added just for name alone.
5. McCaffery from Portland State is averaging 169.67 yards rushing per game through three games.
6. Bell of Indiana State is averaging 153.4 ypg rushing through five games.

While we're at it, who should be dropped from the list?

If Flanders from SH State isn't on it, then he should be.

definitely Forcier, I'd add Alvin Sceaneax (if I could spell it right) of Wofford on the Buchanan list as well

Jerodis Williams of Furman.

For whatever reason, no one mentions him, but he's leading the SoCon in rushing before putting up 175 on WCU.

Lum has more passing touchdowns than anyone else in Division I - FCS or FBS. He has to be on the list.

How could Forcier at Furman not be on the list - I think he leads all divisions of college footbll in passer efficiency rating with 12(?) TDs, no INT, at least one rushing TD.. heck last week alone (yes, vs PC - the same PC that Wofford beat in the last minute) he had 7TD via air and one running ! (National player of the week by at least two services). This week 4 TD passing , no INT... on da road. I think his rating is like 290 now !!! After 5 weeks of play I have NEVER seen that , ever...

Defenses will get better and that rating will certainly fall but at mid-year I think they have to put him on the list

Two Players from Duquesne need to be looked at..........QB Sean Patterson has thrown for 1073 yards 13 td 4 int and has rushed for 269 yards with an efficiency rating of 153.51, Running Back Larry McCoy has rushed for 695 yards an average of 139.00 per game for the First Place Dukes in The NEC. Both players are Juniors.

Yup, I agree. Lehigh has one of the best offenses in the FCS this year. November 5th is shaping up to be a great, great day for college football in the Lehigh Valley. Looks like I should start to look up flights for that one.

Look forward to the game also. Lucky for me its only a couple of hour drive. ABE has a pretty decent schedule of flights. About half hour to Goodman. Since neither of us has a great pass defense we should top our scores with UNH

Rev,

I think he should at least get a look, but I am undecided if he should be on it or not. His stats are definitely worthy of a look though.....

SHSU... 4-0

Tim Flanders, RB... Soph (National Rankings in NCAA)

9th in rushing ................ 126 ypg
9th in all purpose yds....... 178 ypg
4th in scoring.................. 10.5 ppg

The Payton Award is for offense only. He should definitely be a name on the Buchanan, though.

Unfortunately, I don't know if DJ McNorton (NDSU RB) has had enough production to warrant continued watch list cred. He's got some TDs and had a good game Saturday but just hasn't been able to do much this season aside from a big run against Minnesota yardage-wise. That said, still seven games left to play so maybe I'm speaking too soon. He's certainly a potent guy on offense.

Just give it to Lum already??? Completing 65.7 percent of his passes for 1,809 yards and 19 touchdowns so far?

PS, Lum's not on there... but should be.

How about who to remove... Bo Levi Mitchell and Brandon Kaufman, both of them...

Bobcat in NC
October 3rd, 2011, 10:41 AM
And maybe replace one of them with Cody Kirk, RB, Montana State.

89 rushes, 502 yards, 7 TD
10 receptions, 152 yards

Maybe that's just because I'd love to see the Bobcats with 2 SOPHOMORES on the watch list. xbowx

Assuming that HC and Lehigh both take care of business in the Patriot League, I'll be traveling up to this one for sure. How's that new casino that opened up recently?
