Efective for the 2012 Season 8 FCS schools have announced the formation of the Good Ol Boy Conference. McNeese, Cal Poly, Portland State, North Dakota, Eastern Illinois, Albany, New Hampshire, and Coastal Carolina have agreed to begin play with a national cable TV deal in place. The deal gives each school 1000 free connections to sell to help pay travel costs, plus the revenue from every other Stacker 2 and Micro Towel car cloth commericals will go to the school's athletic funds.
Officials say that Fall classes at the schools will only be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so students can travel safely to and from the Saturday games. Conference officials hope the success of the conference will allow them to move into competition with the Western Hemisphere Conference, Northern Hemisphere Conference, Southern Hemisphere Conference, and Eastern Hemisphere Conference, all recently created within the NCAA. Expansion plans include the Universities of Sao Paulo, Puerta Villarta, Melbourne, and Port Elizabeth.
Said conference spokesmen, "This gives our conference an immediate recruiting presence in British Columbia and Quebec. Moreover, we believe recruitment of regular students will be enhanced because all the away games with the intended expansion colleges will be during their summertime and that will give students traveling to the games several more Spring Break opportunities. We are excited for this new conference because this is what college athletics is all about."
