SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Despite battling an unseasonably wet March, the Sacramento State football team is currently conducting spring practice. The Hornets, who began practice on Mar. 22, are scheduled to hold 15 sessions between now and mid-April.

During those practice dates, Sacramento State will have three controlled scrimmages. The second scrimmage will take place at Cordova High School on Sat., April 8, at 11 a.m. The final scrimmage is scheduled for Sat., April 15.

All times and dates are subject to change due to the weather. The team must complete all 15 of its practices by April 22.

The Hornets return 41 players from last season’s team, including 18 players who started at least four games. On returners on offense include WR/RB Torrell Baker, WR Ryan Coogler, OL Tyrone Davis, RB Ryan Mole, WR Bobby Mooshagian and WR Philip Perry. On defense, 10 starters are back from last season. That list is comprised of DE Mike Brannon, LB Tyson Butler, DE James Henderson, DT Chris Hurts, CB Jody Johnson, LB Steve Lynn, DB Kiel McDonald, CB Durrell Oliver, FS Brett Shelton and SS Brent Webber. K Juan Gamboa and P Mitch Lively are also back.

Sacramento State will begin its 2006 season at Boise State on Thur., Aug. 31. The team’s first home game will come on Sat., Sept. 16, against Cal Poly.
