I'd anticipate the SLC preseason polls, teams to be made available by 9, 9:30 this morning...

Would think SHSU is No. 2 or No. 3 in the polls - would be curious to see how the SIDs weigh the departure of SFA's Jeremy Moses compared to the coaches... regardless of their 86% return of their WR corps...

I'm thinking SHSU will end up 4th. Some of the preliminary polls have them higher than McNeese but I don't see it. SFA will get the nod for #1 and I think UCA will be in top 3 due to the QB.

Is SLC*NOW going to broadcast more than just the games produced by Southland TV? I looked in their media guide, but I didn't see any information about any of that stuff.

In contrast, the Big Sky and OVC made it clear that B2TV and OVCSports.TV, respectively, will be streaming every home game at a Big Sky/OVC institution.

The individual schools retain broadcast rights to their games. All SHSU home games minus the ones on Southland TV/SLC Now will be on Bearkat Vision on the GoBearkats.com web site. Most of the SLC schools are heading in this direction - typically on a subscription basis.

SLC NOW is free... and is a great service, but I would also like to see all home games streamed within the league, but we're not there yet.

I am sure those numbers will be drastically different at season end. (of course they usually are)

I am sure those numbers will be drastically different at season end. (of course they usually are)

1. McNeese coaches must do a heck of a job with only the 4th best number of All-Conf performers.

2. I think the coaches ballots come with McNeese printed in as #1. That way the others look good if they knock off the Cowboys, and weren't expected to win if they lose to the Pokes.

I'd hope Lamar would get someone on the All-SLC team...

If they are still playing 'Arena Ball', they're bound to get a WR with some ridiculous numbers... ;)

Hey, what happened to SLU??? Did they go to the WAC???

Other than that, I think you're pretty spot on with the predictions (would peg SLU either 6-7)

UCA fifth? Really? WHY would anyone come up with that scenario? I can see a loss to Sam if Sam plays like they did last year but even that was a close game. So was the McNeese game. UCA will not come in 5th this year. :pumpuke:

My reasons:
QB- UCA has the first team All SLC QB in Nathan Dick.
Return game- UCA has Jesse Grandy from Ole Miss (3rd in SEC) and Isiah Jackson.
Defense- Just look at the all SLC second team.

The holes that were there last year are gone this year plus I believe playing two money games (unless we get physically beat up) will give us some fast game experience. All the transfers from the FBS will help dramatically. Last year UCA lead many categories or was in second according to the SLC website also. Moses isn't at SFA anymore so Dick should have a good shot at leading the league in passing. But the year hasn't been played yet...it's all just predictions I know.

SFA 93

I wouldn't take too much from the poll.

Remember SFA was picked to finish dead last in 2009 and won it all.

Actually they Co-Won it all. They were Southland Co-Champions with McNeese State. SFA, however were outright lone winners in in 2010.

SFA 93

OK, pardon me co-won it.

The point is they were picked last.

Here's my predictions as they stand now... I'll feel a lot better about SHSU being in the top three if they can open league play with a win against a UCA team that has proven problematic for us... got Lamar over SLU. Just wish Mike Lucas could win in Hammond, but struggles persist and the Colonels are going to be a helluva better than people think... just not there to get the close games.

I think it's going to be a close top 5...but I think either SFA or McNeese wins it...Sam or UCA getting 3rd and NSULA 5th.
