Asst. Head Coach/Cornerbacks: ARLINGTON NUNN (Clemson)

Arlington Nunn is in his second stint at SFA. He returned to Nacogdoches in January 2005 and is entering his seventh season with the 'Jacks and his third working with the SFA secondary. After three seasons of coaching receivers, Nunn made the transition to coaching the 'Jacks' corners.

Nunn has helped transform the Lumberjacks secondary into one of the strongest in the conference. Once considered a weakness, the SFA secondary is now one of the of the strongest links in the chain. The 2010 version of the Lumberjack secondary was one of the strongest units in recent history, and that was accomplished with the loss of a starter early in the season. Even more impressive was the relative youth among the defensive backs which by seasons end the starting line up consisted of a freshman, a sophomore and two junior transfers.

In 2009, the Lumberjacks' secondary was one of the most improved in the country. A much maligned group in 2008, Nunn overhauled the unit with an influx of new talent that paid huge dividends. Newcomers Andre Banks and Josh Aubrey earned all-conference recognition at the corners, while senior Cory Barlow wrapped up a career-year with first-team All-SLC honors and honorable mention All-America honors. Following the season, Banks was named league newcomer of the year. SFA led the league and finished ranked 28th nationally in pass efficiency defense.

Nunn has produced 10 All-SLC selections in the past seven years, including two first-team selections. Tyler, Texas native, Josh Aubrey, earned first-team all-conference honors in 2010 despite his sophomore status. Nunn has also produced a former conference newcomer of the year and an All-American.

During his three seasons working with the 'Jacks' wideouts, Nunn transformed the SFA receivers into one of the more explosive groups in the Southland Conference. Nunn produced three all-conference athletes while coaching the receivers, including working with Dominique Edison who would go on to set school and conference records and eventually be a draft choice of the Tennessee Titans.

Nunn also served as an SFA assistant from 1996-2000, coaching linebackers and the secondary. During that time, Nunn helped tutor two-time All-American and former Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Trotter. He also was a member of the 1999 coaching staff that guided the 'Jacks to a Southland Football League title.

The Clearwater, Fla., native made stops at Baylor, Navarro Junior College and Sam Houston State before arriving on the SFA campus in 1996. After leaving Nacogdoches, Nunn spent three years as the receivers' coach at Troy State and was the running backs' coach at Mississippi in 2004.

A 1991 graduate of Clemson, Nunn was a standout performer for the Tigers, helping Clemson to four-straight 10-2 records and two ACC titles. An Academic All-ACC pick as a junior, Nunn was a member of the Tigers' top-ranked defensive unit during his final season.

A 18-year college coaching veteran, Nunn holds a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Clemson and a Master of Science in education from Baylor. Nunn and his wife, Monique, are the parents of two daughters, Alyssa (8) and Aria (2).
