Best of luck to Mario Williams. Would be great to see him move on to the NFL league on this side of the big ocean...

TAMPA, Fla. – Former Gardner-Webb safety Mario Williams, a three-time All-America on the I-AA level during his time with the Bulldogs, will begin his professional career this weekend in NFL Europe with the Frankfurt Galaxy.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Williams is listed as the top backup at free safety for the Galaxy, who open the NFL Europe circuit against the Rhein Fire on Saturday, March 18. The Ninety Six, S.C., native’s NFL dreams are still intact – as they should be – as the Galaxy have sent several notable players on to the parent league in addition to winning NFL Europe championships in 1995, 1999 and 2003.

Among those former Galaxy players to gain NFL glory is current Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme.
