OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/QBS: MIKE NESBITT (New Mexico)

Mike Nesbitt is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Lumberjacks. He assumes the role of offensive coordinator, and will also coach the quarterbacks. Nesbitt takes over for a high-powered Lumberjack offense that has led the nation in passing each of the past two seasons, and has been among the nation's leaders in total offense each of the past three seasons. Nesbitt's transition to SFA will be aided by the fact that SFA returns all but two of their all-stars from the 2010 campaign.

Nesbitt spent four seasons in Canyon working with the Buffalo receivers and quarterbacks, and was named offensive coordinator prior to the 2010 season. Nesbitt directed an offense that averaged 529 yards of total offense per game, including 423 through the air, this past season. The Buffaloes finished the year ranked second in the nation in passing and total offense, and third in the country in scoring offense.

Buffalo quarterback Taylor Harris finished third in the nation averaging 400 yards passing per contest, and was also among the nation's leaders with 38 touchdown passes. He finished among the nation's top three averaging 394 yards of total offense per game in 2010.

During the 2009 season, Nesbitt coached the West Texas A&M receivers. That season the Buffaloes hauled in 355 passes for 4,251 yards, which was the third-highest total in school history. Nesbitt also helped produce current Carolina Panther receiver Charly Martin, who wrapped up his WT career with a senior season that saw him catch 95 passes for 1,867 yards and 22 touchdowns to earn All-American honors.

Nesbitt has 15 years of coaching experience, including 12 years at the collegiate level. Prior to his stay in Canyon, Nesbitt spent two seasons in Brenham, Texas as the offensive coordinator at Blinn College. While at Blinn, Nesbitt helped coach the Buccaneers to a 19-3 (.864) overall record and the 2006 NJCAA National Championship. In addition to the team's success, Nesbitt's offense also produced several All-Americans. Prior to his two seasons at Blinn, Nesbitt helped Howard Payne produce a 30-10 (.750) overall record in four seasons.

Nesbitt has left a paper trail of success during his time in the collegiate ranks. Over the course of the past 10 seasons, Nesbitt's teams have produced a 85-24 (.780) overall record.

Nesbitt was a three-year letterwinner at New Mexico where he was one of the nation's top punters, finishing second all-time in school history averaging 45 yards per punt during his junior season. As a senior, Nesbitt led the nation in net punting, and received second-team All-WAC honors. Following his collegiate career, Nesbitt spent time in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings.

He received bachelor's degree from UNM in 1996. Nesbitt, and his wife Camille, have a son, Gavin.
