Hope Stump's team is better in '11, because if the FAMU of '10 is the FAMU of '11 - won't be the prettiest game, that's for sure...

Great match-up though. Southern and FAMU got tons of fans that should be able to put a solid crowd in Atlanta...

ATLANTA (Feb. 16, 2011) - 100 Black Men of Atlanta announced today the new match-up and sponsorship extension for the 2011 Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic, which will return to Atlanta for the 23rd year Sept. 24, 2011. For the first time in Classic history, the Florida A&M University Rattlers will take on the Southern University Jaguars, in a gridiron battle ripe with pageantry and pride. The Bank of America will extend its title sponsorship of this iconic event hosted and produced by the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, which it has supported for so many years.

Glad the game is back...this is one rivalry that should ALWAYS be played. Hopefully we can get back to playing each other in a home and home series.

Seems it would be difficult to get the series back to a home-and-home with the nine-game mandate in the SWAC. Seems the mandate really stands in the way of allowing some great annual HBCU match-ups. Perhaps in those upcoming 12-game years, it can happen.

Explain to me how the mandate is stopping SU from scheduling Famu in one of its 2 OC games.

Explain to me how the mandate is stopping SU from scheduling Famu in one of its 2 OC games.

1) Limited flexibility in scheduling games with just two games to schedule and the fact the MEAC participates in the playoffs (no 'Turkey Day Classic' here)
.
2) The need for many SWAC schools to utilize one of those OOC (if not both) as an FBS game

The mandate is not stopping it, but it surely is making it difficult for Southern and the other SWAC schools to do all the scheduling they'd probably prefer to do. Of course, many of the other SWAC schools even with four OOC games could not do all the scheduling they'd probably prefer, let alone reach 11 games!
