Says that TSU is following school, SWAC and NCAA rules with this one... is there more to the story?

Comes one day after this great story from the Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/solomon/7332976.html)

Birmingham, Ala. - FOX 26 Sports has learned the Texas Southern Tigers will play Alabama State in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game Saturday without starting quarterback Arvell Nelson.

TSU athletics officials have chosen not to allow Nelson to play.

In a statement from the school's athletics department, released to FOX 26 Sports, TSU explained its position, but did not go into detail.

"Texas Southern University has discovered issues regarding TSU quarterback Arvell Nelson and his ability to participate in the SWAC Championship game. Because of concerns, the university has decided not to allow Nelson to play in the game.

Usually when stuff happens this time of year like that, it has to do with eligibility issues, such as not passing enough semester credits in the fall. When does the TSU semester end?

Not academics, Mr. C - at least, according to this...

A school source said Athletic Director Charles McClelland and head coach Johnnie Cole made the decision on Friday evening to sit Nelson due to concerns about possible NCAA violations. source said the possible violations are not related to academics.
