Lots of the same talk - coaches addressing the question, but the league is the one that will call the shots.

The SWAC has other priorities than the playoffs, especially with their need for money (with football and men's hoops being the two big providers) and the current financial structure of the playoffs.

Jackson State coach Rick Comegy says he hasn't thought about his team's possibilities of getting an at-large bid into the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

It seems that everyone else has.

With the Tigers (7-3, 5-3) eliminated from the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship race, many fans are wondering if JSU, with a convincing victory over Alcorn State on Saturday, would get an at-large bid into the playoffs, which begin Nov. 27.

Jackson State and Old Dominion are in play for spots. A lot might need to happen, but they are 100% in play.

I would say they are about 1% in play.

Because ODU is still starting up their program, aren't they in the same situation as a 2nd year transitional this year? IIRC, they are not eligible for selection.

No, because they aren't a transition. They were DI and eligible from the first game last year.

How were they any different last year than Lamar is this year? Lamar is unclassified this year and does not count as a Division I counter. What's the difference?

Both teams are 0% in play.
