I was 4-0 this week as I was the first person in AGS to call the winner of the UTC-GSU matchup. The number of teams remaining to win enough games to be considered for an at-large bid is now down to five. Best case scenario would
be the SoCon getting four bids. An ASU win this coming week will eliminate Elon (if they lose this week), Samford and Western Carolina from the SoCon title hunt. Here are my power rankings (number in parenthesis indicate number of wins needed to become eligible for the playoffs as an at-large bid):

1) Appalachian State (1) - started slow but finished strong vs. The Citadel
2) Wofford (3) - see Appalachian State
3) Chattanooga (3) - team on a mission takes down GSU at home
4) Georgia Southern (4) - effort vs. Chattanooga was good, had nothing to ashamed of
5) Furman (3) - took care of business vs. Samford
6) Elon (out) - gets a well-deserved break with hopes of turning their season around
7) Samford (out) - found out difference between WCU and Furman the hard way
8) Western Carolina (out) - had a great start but fizzled out vs. Wofford
9) The Citadel (out) - got lucky vs. ASU at first but their luck ran out

Week 8 Picks:

Appalachian State @ Western Carolina
Wofford @ Elon
Chattanooga @ Furman - game of the week
Georgia Southern @ The Citadel
Samford - off
