Im pretty pumped about this one. Its playoff time for UNH and we are up against one of the best in the CAA at their place......the question is.... Who's offense plays worse?

WHat do you guys think? are you as pumped as I am?

Ill go homer pick UNH 24 JMU 21 in OT.......

This game is make or break for UNH. It either signals a complete 180 from the Maine/URI losses where they gain confidence and make a playoff run or curtains for their season and a .500ish finish. I have to be a homer too and pick JMU but mostly because I like their defense more than UNH's cuz you can't throw the 15 INT's in from last week against the punter of UR...Plus we have a nasty crowd that the team seems to play better in front of and it is NOT UR on homecoming who we always find a way to lose to.

Mattymc727
October 13th, 2010, 02:24 PM
This will be no doubt the biggest test for UNH. If UNH shows up like they did against URI/Maine, it wont even be close. However, if UNH shows up, and steals a win..... I think we could beat anyone.

I have gone on record and picked UNH for this game. I did this in part because the other CAA games have really clear favorites. I mean who is picking URI over Delaware???

IF The UNH O line can pick up the JMU D Line, (questionable at best) and if Toman can make the big plays, UNH can win this game.

The JMU offense is offensive.

My head says JMU wins this and Toman gets a back massage from the turf. My heart says McConnell is a much better coach than throw the Hat Matthews.

We will see.

i think on caazone i picked...

JMU 16
UNH 13

no one has scored multiple TD's in any game against us this year. UNH is 0-3 on the road this year. if we have penalties like we did against UD, we could lose. if we lose the turnover battle, we could lose. avoid those two things and we win.

With the exception of Robertson's late roughing the QB penalty, we did a good job of holding the penalties down in a game that could've seen a lot of frustration fouls. I'm hopeful that's a permanent change.

On the injury front, Sullivan, Long and Bryant did not practice yesterday, but Bryant tweeted that he's been cleared to play. Not sure about Long and Sullivan. Yancey was back in full pads practicing which will be helpful if Sullvan can't go. Another injury concern is our already thin line. Matt Krout, starting rFr. RT sat out of practice with a boot on his foot. We'll also be missing starting TE Brian Barlow, but I think Sharpe will be able to fill in nicely. We won't see many two TE sets though.

Will JMU have a video feed that's available for purchase? The past couple of UNH games broadcast by Comcast haven't shown up on ChannelSurfing. I wish I had comcast :-(

I think they always have a feed for home games, but somebody else will have to confirm. I think you have to pay $6.

I bought the Towson game from JMU but basically got the Towson feed.

No problem. I should add that the Towson feed was great. You're probably not going to get that quality with the JMU feed.

UNH wins 3-2. UNH snaps it out of the back of the endzone late in the game to secure victory. Toman throws for 600 yards, completes 45 passes and has no touchdowns.

I hope JMU finally blows someone out, I'm sick and tired of hearing Mickey Matthews make excuses for not playing better. To be honest, if the Dukes can't score 24 they might lose and I'll have to listen to that crap again next week.

Yeah Madizone has the feed for all home games. Should be there for $6/7. Haven't done it yet due to other weekend commitments but should be available and better than the radio or espn....

Has anyone heard any updated injury reports? Two or three defensive linemen had to be helped off the field last week, and Seamus O'Neil looked pretty wobbly leaving the field - another concussion? Also, is Chris Jeannot playing this week?

As far as picking a winner goes, old State U needs to find a running game, and I don't think the "wildlcat" to Jellison they unveiled last week is the only answer. For all the criticism that Toman has taken, he leads the conference in total offense, and the team is #1 in Passing Offense and #3 in Passing Efficiency, go figure.

I'm going to go out on a homer limb and say UNH 21-JMU 14.

WrenFGun
October 15th, 2010, 07:16 AM
I think UNH can win, but I don't think it will be very high. JMU has allowed 13, 13 and 3 points over the last three weeks. They also haven't scored over 21 points since their week one trouncing of Morehead. I expect JMU to score anywhere between 10-17, so that's where UNH will have to be.

I have no idea what the status is but I'm concerned about John Murray, Kyle Auffray, Jay Colbert and Seamus this weekend. I've read that Jeannot was practicing but he's not on the 2-deep.

Well we don't look dumb because the QB play and coaching in the first half was bad. However, the team finally showed some grit and came out in the second half and scored a couple of offensive touchdowns.

hey, who would have thought at this point in the season, UNH would be 0-2 against the old CAA North, and 2-0 against the CAA South......

UNH will win! Way to go!

Don't I look dumb complaining about the coaching/QB in the first half. Nice adjustments.

Well Wren you posted everything I would have posted, I still don't know how the Cats won this but a good win. However I still have no confidence in Toman at all. Coach Mac needs to show some old fashion Woody Hayes emotion on this team. He needs to get in the players faces and get on them and if it means benching Toman or any other player for stupid penalties or bad decisions for a series or two so be it, He needs to do radio shows ripping the team even after a win. He needs to get on his O.C if you go to a no huddle offense than be ready and go, don't look at the sidelines looking for the play and end up taking more time than if the team huddled. Mac is always painting a rosy picture and making excuses for his kids, time for some tough love

We just beat the #6 team in the country by 14 points, on the road, during their homecoming. Everyone relax and enjoy the win.

Good win for UNH. JMU never seems to win the tough homecoming games....Our offense reared its ugly 2010 head again in the 2nd half after a pretty good first half. This was the overall reason for the loss. JMU's defense was stellar in the first half because the O was moving the ball at least a little and let them rest. The second half started with 2 short drives leaving our D gassed and UNH was able to take advantage. Our starting DT leaving in the 2ndQ didn't help either.

I know you guys are hot and cold on Toman but I would still be cold on him. Wouldn't trust him like I don't trust our offensive play calling. The O line was the difference for him as they beat our D line off the ball in the 2nd half. This game showed more about JMU's Offensive struggles than Toman coming of age. Your D was as advertised tho. You stomped our back to back runs right into the heart of your D because our play calling is SO tricky...

Also, surprised the 100% UNH posts since it happened never mentioned it. The punch 5ft. in front of the head ref by the UNH player could have severely altered the ending. It was an egregious missed call by the ref as I saw it through my grainy feed. He made the late hit call out of bounds from the center of the field but looked the other way on a personal foul directly in front of him with no one obstructing his view???? This would have pushed UNH to a 1st and 10 at the JMU 30 and not at the 15. JMU became swiss cheese on the next two plays and made it a two score game. Do I think we could have gotten 1 TD to tie it? Maybe, definitely not certain. Just think the mentality of the D and crowd would have changed with such a dumb penalty being called.

After this game I still think both UNH and JMU will be in a dawg fight the rest of the way just to squeak in to the playoffs.

I was watching our poor feed so they rarely showed replays and punts were panned all the way out. When was it? I just thought that was SUCH an easy call. That play could have been after the refs took their eyes off him. Not any less of a penalty but not as easily spotted (even in the open).

Just watched the game this morning, how did I live without the dvr. As bad as Toman was in the first half he was just that good in the second half. 2 things really stood out to me Matt Evans was an absolute beast. The fullback lead blocker on the shotgun option really seemed to help the running game. I only watch the games on direct tv 630 but that seems new to me don't recall seeing that last week vs Richmond but I'm not positive.

VA,

I haven't seen it much, and it's great to see Setian in the game. He's a valuable asset..
