Tough break for Tennessee State... who is 3-2 (0-1 OVC). The Tigers would've had a tough time making a run at the OVC title, but we all know having a strong running game does make a difference in making one competitive...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State senior running back Preston Brown will have knee surgery next week to repair a torn ligament and likely will miss the rest of the season.

He was averaging 152 yards per game, third among in the Football Championship Subdivision and tops in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Brown, a Nashville native, injured his knee making a cut at midfield in Tennessee State's 37-7 win over North Carolina A&T at the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis on Saturday. He hobbled off the field but returned for one more play, rushing for 43 yards before leaving for good.

Another story from the Tennesseean...

"I really think he could have come close to leading the nation in rushing because he was really just starting to feel it," Reed said. "God has a funny way of bringing everything into perspective, and hopefully this will be a life lesson for Preston and he'll bounce back a stronger person."
