Based on this, Chattanooga should be feeling really good for an 0-2 team.

I must say, Morgan State was impressive in their loss to Maryland, 62-3. Maybe those two voters are still flying high over the 14-7 win over D.II Bowie State in week 1. xeyebrowx

So can anyone tell me how a team who only beat Chattanooga by 1 point and a team who lost to temple are rated ahead of jmu. I guess pollsters dont like admitting they where way off and jump a team that much for 1 win.Guess thats why montana still ahead of cal poly. Good thing everything will be settled on the field and we dont have to worry bout dumb polls that are wrong 100 percent of the time to crown our national champ.

There's a lot more to ranking teams than looking purely at wins and losses. Nova returns a ton of players from the team that beat JMU 27-0 last year. Is JMU that much better than last year? Maybe, but 1 game only proves so much and needs to be put into context. JMU's offense was pretty bad last year. Against VT they completed 5 passes all game, averaged 2.8 yards per rush, and benefited from a +3 turnover differential. JMU still has some question marks that cannot be erased by a single game.

Glad to see us at #4; remains to be seen if it's truely deserved...

IMO - Chatty is the best 0-2 team in the entire country. If they learn to finish they are gonna hurt some folks before the year is out!

Have no problem with Nova being ahead of JMU. Besides, Temple might actually be better than VT for all we know. Long season ahead of us...

There was a first-place vote for Jackson State? Did I overlook something in the article?

So I read that the polls are really nothing because "we'll take care of it on the field"...

So...UMass took care of it "on the field" yet W&M is ranked higher...

depends on which PART of last year you're talking about.

for the nova game, our defense did its job. held nova under its point average for the regular season (27 and i believe they averaged around 32). the problem was that we had a true freshman QB starting his 2nd career game (i believe) who had absolutely no idea where he was the whole game. NOW we have our starter back who is a senior. QB is the most important position in all of sports, so i would not expect Nova to win by 27 this year.

regardless, this is a new year. we're 2-0, they're 1-1. wherever we are, we should be ahead of them. they can leapfrog us if they beat us. it's not a huge deal or anything but it would be nice to be #1 right now.

jmufan999
September 13th, 2010, 05:56 PM
one more thing.... if you consider how inept our offense was last year against nova, holding them to only 27 points when our D was on the field the entire game is pretty impressive.

also, the stats you mentioned about Dudzik's passing #'s... how many passing yards did Rodney Landers have? that's the offense we run. Dudzik also has four rushing TD's on the year already.

also, we were 7 of 12 on 3rd down. ok NOW i'm done.

I'm glad to see that someone in the media business has the stones to release his poll votes. I wish TSN would require this like the AP poll does for FBS.

I actually don't have a problem with us at 9 with his explanation but to have J St. at 4 and us at 9 is a little odd. Did JSt. validate something we couldn't with big FBS wins???? If they are back to back its cool...

Plus UVA CANNOT EVER beat Tech @ Tech. UR loss to UVA but is still higher than us with all their question marks??? I think there is alot to see there yet too.

Did he even look at Box Scores? No way Griz should be up there, or Cal Poly down there, or McNeese that high!

That's just a shame. And his reasoning in the comments section was so poor... "I'm not sold on them just yet" in reference to JMU. Oh, so the loss to Cal Poly sold you on Montana?

What a load of crap.
