New Lehigh HC Andy Coen named former Lehigh assistant line coach Don Roberts head of his defensive line coach. He also named Brett Sawyer, asst. coach with Coen at Penn as an assistant with the OL and TEs.
Roberts was an assistant with Coen under Higgins from 1994-98, when Roberts then left for UConn, and then Coen left for Penn, but both promised each other they'd be together, again, 'somewhere down the road.' Roberts has been back in the Lehigh Valley over the last four years as HC at Allentown Central Catholic where he has been rebuilding that storied program. This is an excellent move by Coen. Roberts was well loved and respected by his players at Lehigh (as well as by everyone at ACC) which tells you what kind of person he is.
Sawyer is unknown to me, but he coached at Penn for two years with Coen, and previous to that, for three years at Princeton, with the TEs. One of his strengths has been recruiting in the Carolina/Georgia area.
More news expected this week as we approach the Annual Football Dinner next Saturday....
