Kwabena Asante could have let his college football playing days end when Hofstra University in New York decided after last season to disband its football program.
But with one season of playing eligibility left, Asante wanted one more go-around. So, he packed his bags for Lamar University, where the 6-foot-1, 210-pound running back will be the only senior on a squad of more than 80 players.
"I learned at Hofstra for four years how to be responsible and accountable," Asante said. "That's what I bring over here, some veteran leadership. I can show them how it's done: Don't miss anything. Be on time. Just be accountable and show up."
