About a month ago, a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula saw a woman crying and asked her what was wrong.
The woman explained that a fishing camp her grandfather built generations ago had filled with oil, and she was sad because her children wouldn’t have the opportunity to experience the same joys there she once did.
The Sunday school teacher couldn’t get the story out of his mind. The real-life, first-person account describing the impact of the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history touched him more than anything he had read in newspapers or seen on television.
And it turns out, the Sunday school teacher could do something about it.
