BTW, I wonder if Coach Curry is gaining an understanding of I-AA/FCS football now. I can remember him making arguments about why it's possible to have football in I-AA (it was before the name change) but not in I-A. One of them was that I-AA teams have more players because they split scholarships. He was actually making the argument that one reason I-AA teams could have playoffs is that they were deeper.

Did he actually say that?

Sorry guys, I have no idea why the links aren't working anymore. They were working perfect when I posted them last night.

But, if you go to youtube and find the espn page and type bill curry in the espn page search, then they'll pull up. I see most have figured it out.

Hopefully this link will take you to the page, hopefully.

To my recollection, yes. Along with a bunch of other ignorant stuff that I can't remember now. I'd never had an opinion one way or another about Bill Curry before I heard him argue as to why there shouldn't be a I-A/FBS playoff and why it was different than I-AA/FCS a few times. After I heard him make those arguments a few times I developed a distinctly negative opinion of him.

You're gonna have to back those statements up w/ a link to a interview, article, or anything b/c I've never heard anyone not on the BCS board advocate for the BCS.

Can't wait to for you to put something solid behind that statement b/c I am highly skeptical and anyone can make a random statement about what they think they remember. Proof quiets all.

Well, if you choose not to believe me, that's fine. It's not something I can readily document because he made it while I was watching college football games and he was on the broadcast crew. From time to time the inevitable I-A playoffs issue came up and he was a staunch opponent of it. And the particular one about splitting scholarships so that a I-AA could have more players on its roster is the one that sticks out in my mind because it was so ridiculous. I don't "think" I remember it. I remember it. I just said "my recollection" because, as you say, that's all I have due to the nature of the situation.

I found something about it 4 years ago in 2006. He was a proponent of the BCS then. So, I stand corrected. But, it wasn't quite b/c of the reasons you said. It was because he said in FBS every week is extremely important. I highly doubt he was saying he didn't have a good understanding of FCS and that he is now on a learning curve.

I believe if he was truly against FCS and had a disgust for the playoffs, he would've simply turned the job down when he was offered it.

Adding to our best regular season record vs. champion topic, ESPN's Bill Curry says all sports should adopt the BCS system. College Football is the only sport where the regular season truly matters.
