Mark Wiedmer pf the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/yb/141680119) fired a shot at the Frisco bid in his most recent column...

"It's difficult to see how the game becomes more important in the distant Dallas suburb of Frisco, especially when next season's Jan. 7, 2011, date places it directly opposite the Cotton Bowl and on the same weekend the Dallas Cowboys could host a playoff game," writes Wiedmar. "You think a single Texan would care about seeing, let's say, Northern Iowa face UMass on a weekend like that?"

The Dallas Morning News (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/022510dnspofriscobidfcs.14bf2038a.html) posted it up on their web site trying to get a nibble on the situation.

Article in the Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010/feb/24/local-group-optimistic/) that the bid committee feels optimistic...

"Even though I feel very confident and feel like we're the obvious choice, you just don't know," Smith said. "This is not one where I feel it's 50-50. I definitely feel that we're the clear-cut favorite and best place for the game, so I would be very disappointed if we lose. But I will say there's a chance we will."

The article also lists the presentation lineups...

Sports Committee board chairman Jim Kennedy will narrate Chattanooga's presentation and deliver the closing remarks, Eckstein said. Also participating will be Smith, Eckstein, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletic director Rick Hart, Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey and Southern Conference commissioner John Iamarino.

Speaking on behalf of Frisco's bid will be Southland Conference commissioner Tom Burnett and representatives from the city of Frisco, the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and the Hunt Sports Group, which owns Pizza Hut Park.

Latest Tweet from Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett (http://twitter.com/tomburnett2)...

Team Frisco's NCAA FB presentation is in the books. Our group felt great after the session, and strongly believe we gave our best shot!!!!

Prior to that, he tweeted that the presentation was set...

So it basically comes down to: the SoCon is trying to keep the game in Chatty and the Southland wants the game to be in Frisco.

Who has deeper pockets and pull with the NCAA FCS administration?

Not sure how much the SoCon is trying to get the game...

No mention on their conference web site (http://www.soconsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4000&SPID=1781&SPSID=21895) nor on the UTC athletics (http://www.gomocs.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17700&SPID=10577&SPSID=88679) site...

All is quiet. I've said it before, all they did in being public and vocal was a Facebook group, which has grown to 3,000 members. I can assure you the SLC got more than that for ticket pledges... xwhistlex

As has been said. This is not about conferences or schools. (Frisco has neither for example) Why MPLS and others try to make it that way is beyond my understanding. Just kind of bizarre. I hope you are not disappointed.

Frisco is home to the Southland Conference

I hope you are not disappointed.

I'm just glad the SLC is making a move on the game. If we get the game, good. If not, whatever...

More important, the SLC needs to continue improving its' product and getting more national recognition - on and off the field. This helps off the field...

SHSU is not bidding on the game, right?

I will agree with continuing improvement for the SLC. xthumbsupx

You said Frisco has neither a school or a conference. xconfusedx

Right.

Two-bid league last year. Once the scheduling gets better and a few other things get straightened out, we'll be a three-bid!

The NCAA makes decisions based on $$. Its Frisco.

Everyone is saying that we are going to hear the announcement today...what has them led to believe that?

Is the committee going to announce that their recommendation to the Championships Cabinet is Frisco or Chatty? Or is that happening behind closed doors?

The Championships Cabinet will not even decide until early March (per the Southland Conference).

If it is all about the money, why didn't they put the game in a stadium where the sell out is guaranteed and they can put a premium on ticket dollars....

The difference is that competition is not in play. Having the game in Frisco does not impact for positive or negative any school's ability to compete.

The SWAC cares more about $$$ and in turn, negatively impacts their ability to compete nationally (seen the W-L records, the RPIs in hoops? the lack of a complete schedule in baseball?).

Having a SWAC title game also impacts the ability to compete - that for a national championship in perhaps the only team sport that the SWAC would have a legitimate chance...

At the end of the day.... when it's all said and done. It's all about the money whether it's the SWAC, NCAA, NFL, NBA even USA!

As soon as you realize that the better. Regardless if it is Six Man or 5A football if there is a profit to be made (especially in this current economic climate) you better believe it will be given heavy consideration.
