He may never get to Jacksonville though...he's a pretty good baseball player and could go high in the draft.

From what I understand, that's part of the reason he is coming to JSU. The SEC schools do not want him to play both.

It's not going to matter what the SEC schools or JSU is willing to let him do...if he goes high enough in the MLB draft - or gets the money - you'll never see him, unless he's willing to walk away from a pro baseball career to play college football. That's essentially what he would be doing if he goes to school, because it's too tough for a position player to do both and develop as a baseball player.

Is he that good of a baseball player?

We played against him in the Southern Regional Championships of the Scout.com/Newlevel Athletics 7 on 7 Tourny at USF last spring. Although our squad wooped up on them(Team ALA) in the Championship game. Blanchard really stood out, Made some great plays. He has a great "feel" of where to go with the ball and great release. JSU got a real quality player and I am looking foward to following his future success with your program. Well done.

Baseball is his best sport. Can play roundball, too.

He did lead them to the bowl victory last year. Not sure how much he played this year.
But he wasn't the GPOY.

Looks like Coty will be staying with the Gamecocks.

From today's Anniston Star

But JSU got good news Tuesday in that Cherokee County standout Coty Blanchard’s asking price was apparently too high. The projected second-to fifth-round pick was not selected, meaning he’s certain to play baseball and football at JSU for at least three years.

His dad (a former JSU football player) really wanted him to play for Jax State and Coty really wanted to play football, so he set a pretty high draft price. I'm happy he is going to be sticking around for a few more :)
