Running Back Bryan Fitzgerald was just granted a 6th year of eligibility by the NCAA.
For those who are not familiar, Fitz was the pre-season SoCon back of the year in 2008, but reported to camp with a knee-injury and was redshirted.
This season he was back to form and was leading the SoCon in rushing before a foot injury ended his season at Samford.
Fitz is a very talented, big, bruising back. Hopefully the Mocs can keep him healthy for the whole season next year. The Mocs rushing was almost non-existent after they lost him this year.
The Mocs will go from having little rushing at all...to having more than they know what to do with next year...that Errol Wynn redshirted this season...back in 2007, he and Fitz combined for almost 2,000 yards of rushing. They will also have Chris Awuah (SoCon all-freshman team) and UTM transfer Trace McDermott.
That should take some of the pressure off BJ Coleman and the pass...teams were able to load up against the pass this year.
