For the younger guys here who didn't get to witness the dynasty that GSU was in the mid - late 80's, #11 is Raymond Gross, who may be the most underrated player in the history of the division. His execution and improvisation in the triple option was uncanny and beautiful as the video illustrates.

Gross was a four year starter at GSU leading the team to the QF in 1987 as a true FR, losing to Furman in the NC game on a fumble inside Furman's 10 in the last minute of play in 1988, led the team to the legendary 15-0-0 NC in 1989, and finally the "Last of the Hard" in 1990 winning his second NC in the video shown.

Gross won 49 games as a starter for GSU, two national titles, and one runner-up. He doesn't get the credit he desrves not only in talk of the greatest players in the history of the division but even in the talk of the greatest players from GSU.

It would really tickle me to see him on Monken's staff in 2010...

He played much much better in the 1989 game IMO but yes, he was a heck of an athlete.

Gross was not only very cunning as a player, he was basically our OC for that year. After the rough 1-3 start, he took over and we didn't lose after the third loss.

I hope he is going to be our QB coach in the Monken regime.
