I have been troubled all year (as well as previous years) by the great amount of penalties incurred by the Griz. Especially aggravating are the "unsportsmanlike conduct" kind that kill drives or negate good defensive play. I have always thought this showed lack of discipline and good coaching. Perhaps there is a fine line between too much discipline and not enough enthusiasm.

Anyway, just to give you stat freaks with too much time on your hands something to do, I was wondering if such a statistical correlation could be made between W-L record and average penalty yards incurred per game (i.e., does it really matter?).

I know the Griz were penalized 139 yards in the Montana State game, but won big. We only had 99 yards in penalties yesterday against SDSU. I think we have averaged close to 100 yards per game all year, though I don't have the real numbers.
