This is the final strength of schedule rankings based on opponents' win-loss records only. At least 9 inter-division games must have been played (from ncaa.org (http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/Internet/toughest%20schedule/iaa_9games_cumm.pdf)). I know there are many issues with just using win-loss records, and the deeper a team goes in the playoffs, the harder their schedule will be (obviously), but it's a start.

Those hurricanes probably messed with this a bit, but the SLC, I'm shocked that we didn't even have a top 25...

SLC
26. Nicholls State
31. Texas State
33. Sam Houston State
56. McNeese State
59. Northwestern State
64. Stephen F Austin

I wouldn't read to much into this - since they look at strictly win-losses, not who the wins/losses were against.

Kind of wierd that UNI could go through a very tough I-AA conference, play Iowa, and go through four playoff games and not have a schedule that's rated a little higher.

No "weirdness" about App State being at #1 though. Kansas plus LSU plus two playoff teams in conference play then another four playoff teams in the tournament.

I've said before that not only is the Big Sky a tough conference, but that those weak OOC schedules make it easier for some teams to get 7 DI wins. Notice that every team on here is from the Big Sky, Great West, SoCon, Gateway and Southland. Where's the A-10?

By the way, I put Cal-Poly in bold just because they played so many Big Sky teams. That and the tough Great West is why they're ranked so high.

Edit - I bet Weber and Idaho State are not far down the list. I'll bet they're both top 30.

With Houston and Tech on the schedule and seeing as how the SLC is always competitive, I too am suprised that the Kats wern't ranked higher.

Nice new aviator ralph. :)

Touche and good point. But, what happened to the vaunted A-10 once they got past those powerhouses Hampton and Colgate? Home again watching everyone else!!!

Give the 'Sky those teams and we'd have made it to the second round too. Obviously I can't prove that, but I'd bet a lot on it if it could be proven.

I'm just harkening (don't believe I've ever used that word before) back to the OOC schedule debates, and how some conferences hardly ever get the lesser teams of the playoffs. UNI and Cal Poly were much, much harder first round games than Hampton and Colgate.

However, had Montana and EWU met UNH and Richmond in the first round, admittedly those would have been tough, tough games. xprost2x

Massey is useless for I-AA ratings, his system is obviously very flawed. Citadel #4, Western #7 ...New Hampshire not ranked LOL I am surprised Youngtown is not #1 in his system. Saragin is soooooooo much better at ranking I-AA.

These are schedule strength rankings, I believe.

You realize we are talking schedule strength, correct?

That is why El Cid is so high -- because they have to play ASU, GSU, etc....

Wow, I am shocked Princeton is number two. I am proud to say Lafayette is the only team to play the top two teams. And for those questioning our playoff letgitamacy still... as will be the case likely next year if the time comes... we played three teams in the top 10, and four in the top 25. And next year, based on this list, we will still play three in the top 10, and four in the top 25... So that's roughly 40% of our games vs. top teams.

Over the years I have heard from so many A-10 fans say that if they played a SoCon's team scheduled they would have more sucess in the playoffs. We hear about how the SoCon is so weak. Maybe if we didnt have 7 teams in the top 25 in S.O.S then we might have more teams in the playoffs. This just goes to show that all that talk is bull.

This is based strictly on the won/loss record of said teams opponent's. It has nothing to do with the actual strength of said team.

Wow... this list has every team in the Big Sky on it.... Just goes to show you that everyone has a poll of some sort and if you look around enough you can even put ELON as the #1 team in the nation.... So, guess all these polls are like politicians.... a bunch of hot air at best....:beerchug::hurray::nod: but ya gotta say it looks good for the Big Sky....xazzx

Yeah, just like last year when EWU knocked off #1 SIU and Montana stayed at home all the way to the 'chipper.
