I sure wish Sherrit was a Sr. He is all over the field. A well represented group from different schools. Last year Weebs seem to dominant the list.

There was so much on that page, it got kinda ugly on the format, sorry for leaving the POY stuff out.

Eastern Washington's Matt Nichols was named the Big Sky's Offensive Player of the Year.

4? 4! First-team running backs? Sure, they may have all deserved it, but, still... at least narrow it down to two...

That would make a great team

I think Mariani is a better special teams contender then Toone and should have been named there in 1st. My opinion only! xcoffeex

Stats don't prove it? Considering it's punt returns, what really can you argue other than performance?

And Bobby Hauck is Coach of the Year. I sure wish he would take a job somewhere else. He always gets more out of his players than they know they have.

I was glad to see him back in the last game after he went down, I don't like to see anyone get hurt. Ogden looks and acts like a heck of a player from what I saw.

Fletcher got a gift handed to him with that selection......NO ONE IN THE COUNTRY comes close to what sherritt did this year at EWU......145 or 150 tackles and he DOESN'T get the POY.....thats bull*****....

Blah blah blah blah. Dane earned every bit of that award. AND he missed two games, and STILL put up the stats that he did.

Dane Fletcher - Defensive End - Montata State (SR., 6-2, 242) 77 TT, 17.5 TFL 7 SK, 4 QBH 1PB, 2 BLK

J.C. Sherritt - Linebacker - Eastern Washington (Junior, 5-10, 220) 154 TT, 14 TFL 1 INT, 1 TD, 4 PB, 3 FF, 4 FR, 1 QBH

CLEARLY these two are of equal caliber this season.....if i'm not mistaken Sherritt has TWICE as many tackles as Fletcher.....Sherritt should have been unanimous....He will win the Buck Buchanan for national POY but cant win the BSC POY....what a joke....

I don't think that DPOY was a slam dunk for Fletcher. Sherrit definitely deserved all the recognition that he deserved.

I think that the reason that Dane got it the reward was that he was constantly double teamed and still was able to make plays not only for himself but create opportunities for Ogden and the rest of the defensive line.

I am sure that Sherrit and the guy from Sac State will fight it out next year for honors of best defensive player.

Same argument could have been made for Bobby Daly his junior year versus Montana's Kroy Bierman. Bierman would change the game and Daly would rack up tackles like nobody's business.

Fact is both are great players.

I think the quality of the defense overall swayed the award.

So you get a lot of tackles. So what? Your team gave up 750 yards in a game. How can you be POY when the defense you play on sucks?

Good point. EWU didn't have the defense that MSU did this year, and I think that was something that was taken into account. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
