Breaking Down the Leaders

McNeese State (4-1)
- def. SLU 36-35, loss to SFA 16-13
- at TXST, vs UCA

Stephen F. Austin (4-1)
- def. McN 16-13, loss to TXST 28-7
- at SLU, at NWST

Southeastern La. (4-1)
- def. TXST 51-50, loss to McNeese 36-35
- vs SFA, vs Nich

Texas State-San Marcos (4-1)
- def. SFA 28-7, loss to SLU 51-50
- vs McN, vs SHSU

This week, we'll have two 5-1 teams and two 4-2 teams since all four teams play each other. Which 5-1 teams emerge could very well determine which teams go to the playoffs since the last week games are against teams outside of the top four.

This week:

SFA @ SLU
McN @ TXST

Should the winners hold with a 6-1 mark...here's a look at who holds the tiebreakers...

If SLU, TXST win - SLU tiebreaker
If SFA, McN win - SFA tiebreaker
If SFA, TXST win - TXST tiebreaker
If SLU, McN win - McN tiebreaker

Possible.

If SFA and McNeese win out - YES.
If TXST and SLU win out - possible.

Those are probably our best two shots. Trying to figure out if there are others.

If TxSt and SFA win out and McNeese St wins against UCA I think there is a really good possibility of the SLC having three teams in the playoffs.

In this scenario TxSt will have the automatic bid and both SFA (9-2) and McNeese St (8-3 with a win at Appalachian St) will be very hard to ignore.

I like this scenario...

The 'window' for possible at-large teams is VERY small. Would be nice if a 7-3 McNeese team (throw out the sub-Div I game) got in.

Okay, I want SLU to make the playoffs - but if we can get THREE conference teams in, I'd be supportive of that scenario!
