Kickoff scheduled for 1 pm PST (first time for that) at Portland's PGE Park on Senior Day for Portland State. Big Sky conference game between the Bobcats and the Vikings. Drew Hubel is listed as probable and will most likely start for the Vikings, who will be starting their full complement of able-bodied seniors (those injured of course will not play). Hubel will be facing the conference's top rated total defensive squad in the Bobcats. The Bobcats have said their starting quarterback situation will be resolved by gametime, but the local connections in Portland would like to see former Beaverton-Westview and U of Oregon quarterback Cody Kempt start. The Bobcats would like to keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a win. Weather may be a factor, showers some heavy at times, uncharacteristic gusty winds possible and temps near 50 at gametime.

TV: tape delay television in the Willamette Valley starting at 4:30 pm PST Saturday on Comcast-Portland.

Also available on Big Sky TV and across Montana on Max Media.

I would bet that Kempt will start, hoping to see some good connections between him and WR Elvis Akpla (also from the portland area)

Final Score

Montana State 28
Portland State 10

Senior Day turns into a big disappointment for the Vikings on a rainy afternoon in Portland. Hubel came out early due to some type of arm injury and Kavanaugh played most of the game. Although the game was pretty much decided early, the Vikings defense played well in the second half, holding the Bobcats scoreless. Good win for the Bobcats as they looked really tough in the first half.

I think the weather was the winner in the second half. Made the passing game a non-factor for both teams. Cats jumped out early and turned the game over to another stellar defensive performance.
