Georgia Southern is looking to avenge an overtime loss in Statesboro last year, while Wofford is looking to bring the series to within 1 win. Wofford showed it's sufferings from injuries, losing 38-9 to Chattanooga while Georgia Southern showed it's lack of offense against Elon, losing 28-14. These 2 teams are trying to keep their season from derailing and stay in the conference hunt.
The Terriers offense has trouble in the air, earning more interceptions than touchdown passes. However feeble the air attack might be, the ground game remains strong with Wofford handing the ball off to 14 difference players this year.
Georgia Southern has shown some weakness to the deep pass and with Wofford's fastest player, Justice Joslin, playing wide receiver, the Eagles may have to keep a man deep or risk giving up the big play. If GSU does play a safety over the top, Wofford's ground game could really open up, but if they don't, Wofford's air attack might not look so bad this week.
Wofford's defense has let them down this year, allowing 136 points in 4 games. Georgia Southern has the opposite problem with a defense that carries the offense on it's back. This match up will pit a questionable Wofford defense against a struggling GSU offense and a powerful running Wofford offense against a good GSU defense.
When Wofford has the ball, the Terriers are going to try and option the ball on the ground with occasional pass attempts if the defense cheats up. Georgia Southern will look to stop the run while avoiding being beaten on the long ball.
