20-7 actually

Albany is lucky that its this close. Horrendous first half for Albany. Defense has been doing wonders and getting lucky to keep the game this close.

Esposito needs to perhaps take a seat for the 2nd half. not good.

1. UMASS LOOKS REAL GOOD...definitely quicker and more physical than last year...and than Georgia Southern.

2. Esposito looks uncharacteristically awful. Missing receivers, not feeling the rush, not checking down (he had Gannon WIDE open...your momma could have hit him...on that last drive...TWICE).

3. Albany is lucky to only be down by 13...

4. Huge issue- McCarty is hurt...and unlikely to return-- hip injury. That...is a MAJOR loss. I dont even know (nor does Danefan) who is behind GANNON. Lots of young talent...but who steps up?

Dane96

TD UMASS 27-7.

One thing we are learning--- UA needs to start grooming a TB. The score is what it is because our D has been on the field ALL DAMN GAME.

McCarty goes down and Espo is exposed BADLY...means UA has NO OFFENSE.

This could get ugly if someone doesnt step up for the Danes. Total domination by UMASS right now.

This may be one of the top-5 worst games i have seen during Albany's FCS tenure. There are only 3 other games I can think of that troubled me more.

Very surprising. Didn't expect this much of a rout.

Dane96
September 12th, 2009, 07:34 PM
Ivy...you werent alone...and I am not even talking about the homers (including me).

This game started poorly from the first series for the Danes. They were NEVER into it, Vinny looks awful, and McCarty has been out since the middle of the 2nd.

Perfect storm.

Oh...and UMASS IS REALLY GOOD...their D is fantastic.

Wow, the NEC favorite is now 0-2 on the season. No way this sorry conference deserves an autobid.... After today's thrashing, the NEC should just drop to Divison III....

Yep, that sounds REALLY stupid. Just like some other posters here at AGS, (you know who you are)....xnonox

Tough day for the Danes, but at least you did not lose at home to a Division II team....xbawlingx

I was at the game. Nice evening, good crowd, great group of Albany fans. Albany is going to be okay once they get into their conference play. They have a good team but this year Massachusetts is just too big, too strong and too fast. Massachusetts played well and eventually it was total domination but as good as Massachusetts looked tonight it was pretty clear that they have plenty of room to improve on alot of the little things that they will need to get better at in order to get back on top of the CAA.

Best of luck to the Danes on the rest of your season.

It's great to see the UMass D of old. After last seasons missing in action D... we are stepping it up again. I think this team will only get better and better as the season goes. We are so young on D and growing at the QB spot. I dont know if I should think UMass is really good or GSU may still be a few years away. Regardless it will be hard to do well in the CAA this season with so many good teams. I'm glad I get to see the next two games in person. It sucks they are vs URI and Stony Brook but its better then nothing. Good win Minutemen.

URI looked good jumping out to a 34-0 lead on Fordham last week. I'm curious to see if they've got something for us this time, especially with a bye week to prepare.

Havens settled down after a slow start and looked great in the second half. He overthrew a couple guys and was victimized by a couple drops early on. Our defense looks MUCH improved over last season, if this one is anything to go on (No Jennings and no Mele at LB either). Even Cuko looked much better on kickoffs (deeper), although the fact he had two FG attempts blocked is a bit disturbing. I thought Albany looked decent. Good running attack and a solid D that was just dog tired by the 4th quarter. Best of luck to the Danes the rest of the way. Bring on Rhody!
