Great win. Duke destroyed JMU in their opener last year and on the heels of our championship season, this was a great effort.

OK... im gonna address this comment first. Duke did not destroy JMU. It was tied and/or close at halftime, MM made some changes to protect some of our players in the second half, and we still only lost by a couple TD's. That's a pretty ignorant comment but I'd expect nothing less from a UR graduate after living in Richmond for 3 years now.

Now... with that ignorance being dealt with.... I can't say im surprised by this outcome tonight. Richmond looked amazing as they should with the returning cast they have. The CAA South brought the pain this weekend, and I love it! I wish the best to Richmond this year. Looking forward very much to a chance to play what I would expect to be an undefeated Richmond team at JMU in mid-October.

Actually, the CAA will have a few teams on the bubble come playoff time - as they do every year. nova, Richmond, and the Tribe all can't win the CAA title, so you can bet your azz that these wins can put those teams into the playoffs. xnodx

Totally agree they seem to conviently ignore it. During the W&M contest when Richmond was ahead by about 9 they took a look around the other scores in teh ACC and mentioned every contest but the Duke contest even though it was on there scoreboard lol

89' lets be a little realistic here, all the ACC previews had UVGay and Duke picked 5th and 6th in the ACC Coastal. From top to bottom the ACC is stronger than the CAA. But the top CAA are equal to or greater than the bottom ACC. That being said, they all have MD picked to finish 5th in the Atlantic, and JMU will manage to lose to the Terps by 3 TDs.

I agree that the game was closer than the score indicated.

But as far as the rest of your statement, come on. It was 7-7 when Duke scored right before the half to make it 14-7.
-McGee opened 2nd half with 60 yard KO return.
-2 plays later Landers threw god awful pass, picked off by LB for 67 INT return, Duke scored few plays later, 21-7.
-Next offensive play Lander's fumbled, Duke scored a few plays later, 28-7
-3 series later after long drive down field Landers fumbled at the 8.

It had nothing to do with MM making changes in the 2nd half to protect his players as you state. Landers self destructed in the 2nd half, and got pulled after 3 turnovers.

JMU had sucked 3 straight seasons in their openers (14-3 win over DII powerhouse Bloomsberg in 06', 37-14 loss to UNC in 07' (Landers fumbled on 1st offensive play and 2 punts blocked 1st half) and against Duke last yr in the 2nd half. I expect more of the same next week against MD.

Congrats again to UR and W&M. JMU won't be able to hold up their end against one of the 3 worst ACC teams as you'all did. We'll still manage to lose by 2-3 Tds.
