The 1996 Marshall team was hands down the BEST offense ever...we had an All-American safety named Kenny Bailey and he literally jumped over him. No offense to ASU's 2007 or the two Geogia Southern teams...we had a pretty good defense that year and they beat us up pretty good.

Not a fan of having the playoff games in the total number of points scored. Marshall played 15 games in 1996. Still like 43 per game. Still not a fan of counting playoff games in the same stat. Same with baseball, the stats get real big fast!

Probably the best way to do it would be to compare the average points scored per game. Then you could include playoff games if you wanted to. In fact, since playoff teams are thought to be, on the whole, better teams, those teams who show well against playoff foes should not be denied the scores from those games.

Looking at these numbers, it's pretty hard to argue against the best I-AA/FCS offensive matchup all-time:

Montana vs. Marshall in the '96 championship game. Both teams were 14-0 going into the championship game. Unfortunately, they had Randy Moss, and the Griz had no way to stop him.

I agree, especially considering Montana scored 70 points on two consecutive semi-final opponents in 1995 and 1996.
