If the final score in next week's season opener resembles the 51-0 exhibition in Saturday's scrimmage, the Marching 100 will not be the only Famuans heaping total praise along the Rattlers.

The Green team led by 30 at halftime as all three phases contributed in the dominance. Green was comprised of the 60 players who will likely travel with the team this fall, while their White opponents were from the second and third teams.

Coach Joe Taylor was pleased with the 162 rushing yards for the Green squad, despite missing junior running back Philip Sylvester. Taylor said the former Mariana High standout should return to practice from injury Tuesday.

"I thought we started slow but we picked it up," Taylor said. "Overall, I was concerned with challenging the offensive line and I think they picked it up today."

Lonvontae Page led the way with four touchdowns for the green team that had 162 yards on the ground. On each score, Page followed his blockers, shrugged off a would-be tackler and impressed coaches with his running style.

Page scored on runs of four and seven yards in the first half, and doubled that productivity with runs of 30 and 3 yards in the third quarter. The sophomore finished with 12 carries and 96 yards.

"In order for me to play I'll have to do everything from blocking to running, so I wanted to get myself ready for next week when the real show pops off," he said.

Page used Saturday to gain confidence in his initial steps in pass protection and the running game, making the correct reads in pass protection and improving as a blocking back........
