The announcement finally came today, and Mark Iddins gets the nod at Quarterback this season for Montana State. Iddins started one game last year, the Cats win over NAU in Flagstaff. He beat out junior Cody Kempt, a transfer from Oregon, for the job. Iddins is a senior out of Mukilteo, WA who came to the Cats by way of Santa Ana Junior College.

Woo-Hoo! Glad to hear this, I belive it is the right choice. We also have two very capable backups IMO.

From what I've seen this fall Iddins is the right choice, but if needed Kempt is very capable and not that far behind. Barring a fluke like last year when they both went out with season ending injuries the Cats should be in good shape at QB this year.

Excellent! I also think Iddins was the right man for the job. Solid performance in spring camp, with a glimmer of greatness at times. I think our QB play will be lightyears better than it was last year, especially with the new additions at WR.

Iddins should have been the starter last year, according to a number of Cat players I talked to.

Have to check to see how much he played in the Weber-MSU. If I remember right, the starter had the most talent, but was making bad plays and bad decisions while the replacement was mediocre but less prone to bad plays.

EDIT: Hmm, guess he didn't play. Name sounds quite familiar, though. I watched the game on bigskytv, so maybe they were talking about him a lot.

I hope the Cats made the right choice, this is a big year for them. Surprising in that Kempt received almost like a hero's welcome in Bozeman when he transferred. Now he is a backup.

Not that Kempt really wowed the Duck faithful when he was there...xwhistlex

I don't know about that. I think people were just as if not more excited when we signed Iddins, he was rated 3 stars in JC, and accordingn to Scout had an offer from San Jose State, and interest from Cal, K-State, Missoura & Oregon.
