Strong outing for the former Griz, leading both teams in rushing (52) plus a TD against a fairly stout Panthers defense. It's the preseason, but none the less a good outing...esp for a rookie.

Carpenter had a nice showing in the same game. Hopefully he can hold the other kicker off

Lex was a rookie last year.

If you are on the practice squad the previous year and don't make the 53 man roster, then I think you might be considered a rookie when you make the roster.

Here's the 39 yard TD.

Lex to the house. (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d81214620/Pre-WK-2-Can-t-Miss-Play-Hilliard-to-the-house)

Hilliard fumbled in the last preseason game, but overall has impressed and the word is he will likely make the roster as the #4 running back. Problem is there is a lot of talent ahead of him, Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and Patrick Cobbs. It is expected he'll mostly see action on special teams.

It was just announced that Dan Carpenter has prevailed in a very close kicking competition vs FBS, ACC, NC Tarheel, Connor Barth.
