Glad to be near home: Dylan Kildahl, Darin McDonald return to football in Colorado, hope to impact UNC

Dylan Kildahl has come home to play football. Darin McDonald has come back to football for good.

Now the two former Colorado prep standouts are reunited and hoping to become impact players for the University of Northern Colorado football team, which began fall practices Friday under the lights at the Butler-Hancock practice fields.

The two former University of Wyoming players were late transfers during the summer to UNC after leaving Wyoming because they didn’t feel wanted under new head coach Dave Christensen.

Of course, Kildahl is familiar to Weld County football fans after a stellar career at Highland High School in Ault where he was a first team All-State defensive lineman for the Huskies. The 6-foot-3, 240 pounder is a linebacker for the Bears.
